This is an opportunity for a Respiratory Therapist who wants to use more of their training.

Your day could include pulmonary function testing, respiratory assessments, bronchodilator treatments, noninvasive ventilation, mechanical ventilation, arterial blood gas monitoring, airway clearance, and patient education.

You'll also participate in newborn deliveries and C-sections, assessing newborns and providing respiratory intervention when needed, including ventilation, CPAP, and suctioning. That adds a level of clinical variety that many respiratory positions simply do not offer.

Because this is a Critical Access Hospital environment, Respiratory Therapy is an important part of the interdisciplinary care team. You'll collaborate directly with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other clinicians while contributing to both active treatment and discharge planning.

The role also includes responsibility for respiratory equipment, calibration, troubleshooting, and maintaining readiness, allowing experienced therapists to take ownership of both patient care and the technical side of the department.

For RTs who enjoy variety, critical thinking, and being called upon when respiratory expertise matters most, this setting provides the opportunity to maintain a broad clinical skill set.

What You'll Do

✔ Assess patients and develop respiratory treatment recommendations in collaboration with physicians

✔ Perform pulmonary function testing and interpret clinical findings within scope of practice

✔ Administer respiratory medications and aerosol therapies

✔ Manage mechanical ventilation and BIPAP therapy

✔ Monitor oxygen saturation, arterial blood gases, vital signs, and clinical response to treatment

✔ Provide airway clearance, breathing exercises, and bronchopulmonary hygiene

✔ Attend newborn deliveries and C-sections and provide respiratory intervention when needed

✔ Participate in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and emergency respiratory care

✔ Collaborate with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other healthcare professionals

✔ Contribute to discharge planning and patient education

✔ Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot respiratory equipment

✔ Complete accurate patient documentation and maintain infection-control standards

Minimum Qualifications

Required

✔ Certified Respiratory Therapist credential through the NBRC

✔ Associate degree from a CoARC-supported or accredited Respiratory Care program

✔ Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist credential

Preferred

Registered Respiratory Therapist credential through the NBRC

Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist credential
